I was out on a run recently and had the best time. This isn’t always the case for me. I’ve tried all the apps, the conditioning practices, the shoulds. But I’d always fizzle out.
What was different this time was I ran for the sake of running. The magic came from trusting my gut with every turn–not knowing where I would go. No expectations. No route. Only go.
This same idea carries over to when I write. It can be hard to sit at my desk and to find the right words when I want them to come out a certain way. Writing can feel like a chore at times.
However, I get so much more done, and have a much better time at it, when I cultivate magic in the process. These are the moments of letting go of expectations and seeing where the project leads.
- Seeing how one word will lead to the next.
- Or how the paragraph evolves out of the sentence I didn’t plan to write.
- Or how one idea opens up to new ideas for books, products, services, content, whatever my inner guidance system is calling to be birthed in the world.
This is all about connecting to our intuition. We cultivate it by following those small impulses that nudge us in a certain direction, and by trusting that the next right action will lead somewhere, even if we don’t know how or where yet.
The more we take these opportunities, the more we can trust our creative impulses and follow through with them. Creating becomes more of an adventure than a task. It becomes easier to move through doubts and fears because there’s levity and magic in the process.
I believe we are all intuitive beings. However, the inner voice can be hard to hear sometimes. It’s easy to fall into doubt–especially since it’s challenging to tease out fear or inner chatter from our internal guidance. Luckily, we learn to trust it the more we use it.Our intuition is a muscle. We build it by flexing it.Click To Tweet
We do this when writing, but also when away from our desks:
- When we take a new route to the store just because there’s a tiny voice that asks us to.
- When we pick up the book because we saw it poking out from the selves.
- When you sit and do nothing because you trust in divine timing.
- When you run with an idea just for the sake of seeing where it takes you.
The creative process is innate in you. It’s something that we come into relationship with the more we engage in a dialog with it through curiosity, trust, and exploration.
When we approach our work, with an attitude of wonder we open ourselves to the magic that’s always there. Trusting our inner compass, just as we would when exploring a new idea, or taking a new route to work, makes writing becomes more pleasurable. It makes building your business more exciting and joyful.
The beautiful part? The more we do this in our lives overall, the more we feel connected to our confidence, our wisdom, our authentic voice. A greater sense of alignment takes over. A greater sense of being guided and supported sets in. All while experiencing creativity in a tangible and embodied way.
